Famous music along these lines frequently spoke to as an image of unrest and specialists are perceiving for having one of a kind appeal and soul. It was during the 90s when the artists like John Lennon got the harmony of well known tone and flawlessly tuned in new musings, verse and sound which got famous as well as advanced as crowds most loved tune. His tunes were saturated with political and social messages. The verses reverberation the impact and effect of war, and sings the brutality, void, destruction and waste related with war. Conceived in the war time Europe, Lennon and his band sung on different tunes featuring social issues (Rojek, 2011). In the entirety of his tunes his enemy of war topic was normal and research even affirms that the tunes were embraced as against war subject of Vietnam War and aided in disposing of the repulsions of war through unfriendly battles. Lennons vocation and portrayal of the age 1900 to 1970 Unbelievable vocalist, musician John Winston Lennon was one of the most famous artist entertainers of the age. John Lennon was conceived on ninth October 1940 in Liverpool. His folks left him not long after his introduction to the world and were raised by Aunt Mimi. Other than singing and performing independently, he is regarded for being the lead vocalist of one of the most well known British singing Band, The Beatles which was shaped in relationship with Paul McCartney. The melodies which remind us about Lennons creation, voice and contemplations over and over are Give harmony a Chance and Working class Hero. These tunes were embraced by the youthful audience members and sung strictly which later helped him advance as the best artist of the time who opposed the current arrangement of the time. With music as an imaginative instrument of starting a mass upset, Lennon pulled in the mass, extraordinarily the adolescent and activated enemy of war development (Policies, 2004). Very soon during the Vietnam War, his tunes were embraced as song of devotion to proceed with the counter war development. It was the music darling, Aunt Mimi who acquainted Lennon with the well known style and music of Elvis Presley and tuning in to the legends awesome music, totally changed Lennons life until the end of time. He got music and gradually built up a talent towards inventive reasoning and singing. At an early age he framed a gathering called Skiffle and used to play just the lively melodies at St.Peters Church. It was during an exhibition at the congregation when Lennon met McCartney and the band was shaped. Consequently his melodic dissent plays out method of communicating a precise threatening vibe against a predominant culture and social issues, or war time England (Chin, 2007). Intensive examinations on individuals, culture and society uncovers different significant realities about culture and its effect on individuals. Specialists have regularly recognized it as the selective image of human presence which impacts the framework and frequently prompts adjustment. Much the same as human culture, music which is a portrayal of human, mind and soul, or the voice of human spirit sustains a Popular culture or Pop that is a mass inclination which is not quite the same as the more established individuals yet has advanced as a language of the new a ge and even assist them with associating sincerely through the verses of the melody. This Pop culture, isn't limited to music, yet is a temper which connects with youngsters to think and express their real thoughts in an extraordinary manner chose by them (Collins, 2012). As a rule, the more youthful age effectively communicated their brain through one of a kind design articulation, craftsmanship, verse, melody, dress, etc. Some even coins explicit words to rebel against the current framework and sets up new words which speaks to their way of life as well as accentuates on contrast in their interest and conduct which is noticeably represented through style and conveyed through notable words. Along these lines mainstream society of a mainstream society of mid 90s in which John Lennon holds an uncommon spot. Lennon was clever, comical and inventive in a particular way. His assertion power merits referencing. Saturated with ability and expressive energies, Lennon presented a way breaki ng style, connecting with verse and defiant demeanor in singing style, along these lines advanced as the ideal performer of the class who spoke to the beat of his time in a genuine way (Cruse, 2004). Lennons melody pestered issues like enduring of men under the current framework. His message were obvious, sings of the violent and void of war along these lines featuring war as something which prompts mass annihilation, death toll and vacancy which got famous during the counter war battle and were sung during the Vietnam war show. His messages ventured out to various pieces of the world and the topic of pointlessness of war and how war isn't about wonder, yet about misfortune, that is in war officers are minor hired soldiers who kicks the bucket battling are misfortune to the general public, and troopers are not saints rather endures were is transcendent subject. Much the same as war verse, his melodies additionally sung about manners by which honest lives endure and how society looses all it youthful ability in negligible fight which prompts misfortune, monetary waste and mass pulverization (Dunne et al. 2005). Lennon is regarded, tuned in, sung and associated with his one of a kind craftsmanship. His verses were one of its sorts. They astound blameless brain and empowers thinking among good and bad. The utilization of word play has helped in passing on the defiant thoughts, for example, the cultural issues that requested consideration, for example, disparity, war, segregation and loss of lives. The tunes passed on about sentiment and enduring just as segregation and youthful lives as casualty of torment and trouble. Positive Punishment and Operant Conditioning
Positive Punishment and Operant Conditioning Theories Behavioral Psychology Print Positive Punishment and Operant Conditioning By Kendra Cherry facebook twitter Kendra Cherry, MS, is an author, educational consultant, and speaker focused on helping students learn about psychology. Learn about our editorial policy Kendra Cherry Updated on January 24, 2020 More in Theories Behavioral Psychology Cognitive Psychology Developmental Psychology Personality Psychology Social Psychology Biological Psychology Psychosocial Psychology Positive punishment is a concept used in B.F. Skinners theory of operant conditioning. How exactly does the positive punishment process work? The goal of any type of punishment is to decrease the behavior that it follows. In the case of positive punishment, it involves presenting an unfavorable outcome or event following an undesirable behavior. In other words, when the subject performs an unwanted action, some type of negative outcome is purposefully applied. So if you are training your dog to stop chewing on your favorite slippers, you might scold the animal every time you catch him gnawing on your footwear. Because the dog exhibited an unwanted behavior (chewing on your shoes), you applied an aversive outcome (giving the dog a verbal scolding). Verywell / Cindy Chung The concept of positive punishment can be difficult to remember, especially because it seems like a contradiction. How can punishment be positive? The easiest way to remember this concept is to note that it involves an aversive stimulus that is added to the situation. For this reason, positive punishment is sometimes referred to as punishment by the application. Examples You may be surprised to notice examples of positive punishment in your day-to-day life. For example: You wear your favorite baseball cap to class but are reprimanded by your instructor for violating your schools dress code.Because youre late to work one morning, you drive over the speed limit through a school zone. As a result, you get pulled over by a police officer and receive a ticket.Your cell phone rings in the middle of a class lecture, and you are scolded by your teacher for not turning your phone off before class. Can you identify examples of positive punishment? The teacher reprimanding you for breaking the dress code, the officer issuing the speeding ticket, and the teacher scolding you for not turning off your cell phone are all right. They represent aversive stimuli that are meant to decrease the behavior that they follow. In all of the examples above, positive punishment is purposely administered by another person. However, positive punishment can also occur as a natural consequence of a behavior. Touching a hot stove or a sharp object can cause painful injuries that serve as natural positive punishers for the behaviors. Because you experienced a negative outcome as a result of your behavior, you become less likely to engage in those actions again in the future. Spanking as Positive Punishment While positive punishment can be effective in some situations, B.F. Skinner noted that its use must be weighed against any potential negative effects. One of the best-known examples of positive punishment is spanking, defined as striking a child across the buttocks with an open hand. According to a nationwide poll, 72% of adults reported that it was âOK to spank a child.â?? Some researchers have suggested that mild, occasional spanking is not harmful, especially when used along with other forms of discipline. However, in one large meta-analysis of previous research, psychologist Elizabeth Gershoff found that spanking was associated with poor parent-child relationships as well as with increases in antisocial behavior, delinquency, and aggressiveness. More recent studies that controlled for a variety of confounding variables also found similar results. While positive punishment has its uses, many experts suggested that other methods of operant conditioning are often more effective for changing behaviors in the short-term and long-term.?? Perhaps most importantly, many of these other methods come without the potentially negative consequences of positive punishment.

Betas from Raytheon (0.75), Lockheed Martin (0.64), and Boeing (1.11) create an average of 0.8333. a. What is the cost of common equity? (5 pts) Cost of common equity = Risk free rate + (market risk premium * beta) = 3% + (4% * 0.8333) = .03 + .033332 = .063332 = 6.3332% b. Adverb(ial) Phrases in English
An adverb phrase (or adverbial phrase) is a word group with an adverb as its head. This adverb may be accompanied by modifiers or qualifiers. An adverb phrase can modify a verb, an adjective, another adverb, or even an entire sentence or main clause. As shown in the examples below, it can appear in a number of different positions in a sentence. Examples of Adverbial Phrases The Cheshire Cat vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of its tail. The players responded surprisingly well to all the pressures of the playoffs. The best way to preserve the flavor and texture of fresh vegetables is to cook them as quickly as possible. As quickly as possible, we cleaned the fish and placed them in coolers. The air was warm, stirred only occasionally by a breeze.Only occasionally is there a rumble in the sky or a hint of rain.Snow fell much earlier than usual. My daughters choice of driving music is,Ã surprisingly enough, classic rock. Quotes With Adverb Phrases James Russell Lowell If youth be a defect, it is one that we outgrow only too soon. Beverly Barton, Close Enough to Kill Bernie watched Jims face for a reaction.Ã Surprisingly enough, he grinned. Adverbial Phrases Without Adverbs Theyre called adverbial phrases because they can occur in the same range of positions as single adverbs. Many such adverbial phrases, paradoxically, do not contain an adverb. Such adverb-less adverbial phrases are typically prepositional phrases, as italicized in the examples below from James R. Hurford in Grammar: A Students Guide. On Friday night, Im playing squash.Their marriage broke up in the most painful way.May I, on behalf of the shareholders, congratulate you? Positioning Adverb Phrases Jame R. Hurford, Grammar: A Students Guide Like adverbs, adverb phrases can cause confusion because there is some flexibility in where they occur within sentences, and even in modifying the sentence structure. As well, adverb phrases are sometimes embedded in other phrases. Examples are: Laura, a better, gentler, more beautiful Laura, whom everybody, everybody loved dearly and tenderly. He had taken her hand sympathizingly, forgivingly, but his silence made me curious.David, on the lowest step, was very evidently not hearing a word of what was being said. Our first example identifies an adverb phrase following the verb loved; the next example shows an adverb phrase following the noun hand and removed from the verb it modifies; the third example has an adverb phrase embedded into a verb phrase was...hearing. Such flexibility makes it more difficult to identify these phrases; therefore, noting the head adverb can be of help. Sources Barton, Beverly. Close Enough to Kill. Social Evils Poverty and Health Free Essays
Poverty is one of the most important social evils and a major determinant of ill health (1). From time it is known that poor social status is a major determinant of disease and reduces longevity in a big way. The Charaka Samhita recognized that community structure and functioning was an important cause of disease in individuals. We will write a custom essay sample on Social Evils Poverty and Health or any similar topic only for you Order Now The association of individual illness causing community disturbances and poverty and vice versa was noted (2). Health status is strongly determined by socio-economic positions and a large body of literature from developed ountries demonstrates that most causes of deaths occur at a greater rate in groups with lower socio-economic status (3). Pathways from adverse social circumstances to ill health are then discussed and some suggestions are made for eliminating these social evils. The Global Burden of Diseases Study reported major causes of mortality, disease burden and risk factors in various parts of the world (4). In developing countries, infections of respiratory tract, HIV/AIDS, diarreah, tuberculosis, and malaria have emerged as important causes. The reliability of mortality ata has been questioned in terms of medical classification of deaths as a large number of deaths are recorded as proof and old age. Globally, the important causes were lower respiratory infections, AIDS, heart disease, and malaria. Indian National Commission on Macroeconomics and Health (9) has reported that communicable diseases, maternal conditions as well as non- communicable diseases which are major causes of disease burden. The Second Global Burden of Diseases Study (4) quantified more than twenty health risk factors that influence health of populations. Major risk factors identified were childhood and maternal undernutrition leading to childhood and maternal underweight. , iron deficiency, anaemia, vitamin A deficiency and zinc deficiency. There was a difference in risk factors causing disease burden or mortality. Social circumstances and poverty are the major determinants of all these factors. A social problem is defined as a situation confronting a group or a section of society which inflicts injurious consequences that can be handled only properly (11). There are a number of social problems in India (11). These have been identified as poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, population explosion, communalism, youth unrest, violence against women, crime and criminals, alcoholism, terrorism, corruption, and more recently, overweight/obesity in the urban subjects coupled with changing lifestyles. Multiple efforts to accurately identify social determinants of health have been performed and some efforts have evolved recently. Social determinants of health were enumerated by Marmot and others at the Solid Facts Program of the World Health Organization (12). The factors identified were social rganization, early life events, life-course social gradient, high unemployment rates, psychological work envoronment, transport, social support, cohesion, food, poverty, and social exclusion. All of these factors are classified as social evils that directly influence health. Because non-communicable diseases are major health issues in Europe and other developed countries, these factors reveal only half the story. For example, illiteracy and low educational status is a major disease risk factor but not part of the WHO agenda as this is not as serious f a problem as it is in Europe (3). A major development to address various social issues and poverty was the landmark United Nations Millennium Declaration in the year 2000 by various Heads of States and governments. The declaration articulated Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which include specific targets for social engineering to bring about equitable prosperity and health (13). These specific targets include poverty reduction, increasing primary education, promoting gender equality, and development of a global partnership for an even bigger development. Family and Grandparents free essay sample
They have been given the nomenclature name of grandparents because, they are really grand. Grand in their cute and majestic appearances, grand in their magnanimous behaviour, grand in their attitudes, and lo and behold, very grand in their love and affection. Grandparents are the name given to the parents of ones parents, and they are really the ones who pamper the children of the family. This also can be easily analyzed; they pamper their children and grandchildren out of proportion. This is because after a very long gap of time when their own children were small, now, they find in their homes little children to play with. They pamper their grandchildren more than they ever did their own because now is the time when they have all the hours of the day, at their disposal, free from all responsibilities. Now they have all the time to pamper, cajole, and make love to little children. We will write a custom essay sample on Family and Grandparents or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When their own children were small, they had no time to waste on such cajoling. Besides all this, the parents being busy for the whole day have no time from their routines to see to the extra demands of the children, and, this is where the grandparents enter the scene of the family. Grandparents are such a solace to the children, who are gifted to them as the most loving members in the house. They provide the all-important lap to lay the stressed body and head and of course experienced brains to give advice. With grandparents in the family, the children learn a lot more about life than otherwise. They learn to respect, not only their elders but all the old and infirm. They learn to help the weak, and to go all out to people who need any help. Thus the very presence of grandparents, gives the children a huge stock of humaneness, which they would otherwise have missed upon. The stories narrated by grandparents give an immense pleasure to the children together with a deep insight into life, even if the children havent faced it yet. At most times, grandparents can also be very good friends who play indoor games with the children, for which the parents have no time to spare. Above all advantages, the blessings of grandparents are so very interesting and inspiring that, the children really get a boost to work and work more and more. Just as everything has two sides to it, so does the existence of grandparents in a family also has the other side to it. The other side of the coin is that, their very existence can be really very damaging for the children. At times, the grandparents just cannot understand the trends of the changing times. When this happens they are bound to be a nasty experience for the children. When these same grandparents keep nudging at the children for whatever they do just quoting that it never happened in the earlier times or in their time, they offend the children beyond all repairs. They do not seem to realize that, between them and the children there is a gap of two generations, and, each generation is bound to be different. This strict attitude of the grandparents towards the children creates a wedge between the three generations living under one roof. These wedges can grow deeper with time, if the grandparents refuse to forget that theirs was a different generation. With the wedge becoming deeper there can be a break and this can be disastrous for both, the children and the family. Thus, as is true of all things, there are advantages and disadvantages of living with grandparents. They are, on the one hand, a solace to tired bodies and minds, while on the other hand they can be the single cause of breakups in a family. It would be just wonderful if grandparents could see more analytically the present times and then guide the children and adjust themselves too. To strike a balance in three generations is no doubt difficult but, if achieved with the effort of all it can produce a heaven on earth, a home which could be envy of all around and home for others to emulate. Grandparents are a boon and can become a bane to a family. A suggestion for all would be one word adjustment that is the key, yes, the master key to the prosperity in mans life.
